Plant resilience and physiological modifications induced by curettage of Esca-diseased grapevines

چکیده

The re-emergence of Grapevine Trunk Diseases (GTDs), mainly Esca, has been observed in most the world’s vineyards during last two decades. Development necrosis grapevine wood, especially white-rot, is typically associated with Esca-diseased plants. One different methods being used attempts to eradicate GTDs curettage. This old cultural practice, which consists surgically removing necrotic specifically retaining only non-necrotic tissue grapevine, some European (Spain, France, Italy, Portugal), and increasingly reintroduced since 10 years ago France. We, therefore, wanted study effect curettage on vigour, fertility berry quality, year after plant recovery. Our synthetizes a 3-year experiment cv. Sauvignon blanc grapevines curetted commercial plot Bordeaux region. Asymptomatic control were compared without (with typical foliar symptoms), (without symptoms). Even if recovered lower vigour than plants, their grape quality was comparable, unlike for grapevines. practice proved particularly effective helping Esca-symptomatic recover asymptomatic treatment. Over time, induces resilience grapevines, allowing them recuperate full physiological functioning, thereby compensating Esca’s detrimental impact quality.

Molecular and phenotypic characterisation of novel Phaeoacremonium species isolated from esca diseased grapevines

Petri disease and esca are very destructive grapevine decline diseases that occur in most countries where grapevine (Vitis vinifera) is cultivated. Phaeoacremonium species are among the principal hyphomycetes associated with symptoms of the two diseases, producing a range of enzymes and phytotoxic metabolites. The present study compared the phylogeny of a global collection of 118 Phaeoacremoniu...

Epigenetic Modifications of Host Genes Induced by Bacterial Infection

Introduction: Epigenetic mechanisms regulate expression of the genome to generate various cell types during development or coordinate cellular responses to external stimulus. While epigenetics is of fundamental importance in eukaryotes, it plays a different role in bacteria. This article uncovers the most important recent data on how bacteria can alter epigenetic marks and can also contribute t...

Plant Physiological Adaptations Induced by Low Rates of Photosynthesis

Among the adaptory responses of plants to different ecological conditions the adaptation to low light intensities is one of the most important. This response, known as “shade adaptation”, may, however, be sim ilarly induced by decreasing the rate of photosynthesis in other ways. The partial inhibition of photosynthetic electron flow with herbicides has clearly been shown to induce shadetype pla...

Bacteria in a wood fungal disease: characterization of bacterial communities in wood tissues of esca-foliar symptomatic and asymptomatic grapevines

Esca is a grapevine trunk disease (GTD) associated with different pathogenic fungi inhabiting the woody tissues. Bacteria can also be found in such tissues and they may interact with these fungal colonizers. Although such types of microbial interactions have been observed for wood diseases in many trees, this has never been studied for grapevine. In this study, the bacterial microflora of diffe...
